Handmade
All of our rings are handmade out of authentic coins from around the world. Due to the variance in the condition of circulated coins, the ring that you receive may have slight differences in appearance from the product images.
Silver Rings
The silver coins we use to make our rings vary in silver content, ranging in purity from 72% to 92.5%. Rings with lower silver content have a higher chance of causing skin discoloration. The likelihood of getting skin discoloration from silver-copper alloyed jewelry also depends on each person's skin chemistry and sensitivity. A simple solution for anyone with sensitivity to this reaction is to coat the inside of the ring in clear nail polish.
Non-silver Rings
The non-silver coins that we use to make our rings are made of different combinations of copper, nickel, tin, and aluminum. All non-silver rings are sealed in a clear, hypoallergenic coating to protect the finish and prevent skin discoloration. This coating can wear away with use. Proper jewelry care is recommended to extend the life of the coating.
Patina Finish
The patina finish we add to our rings is produced through an oxidizing reaction with sulfur. If you are sensitive to sulfides, the patina layer can cause skin discoloration. This finish can wear away with use. Proper jewelry care is recommended to extend the life of the finish.
Care Instructions
The best way to keep the ring details sharp for as long as possible and protect the finish or coating is to reduce exposure to mechanical and chemical wear. Remove the ring for exercise, manual work, washing hands, and showering. Avoid contact with solvents (including hand sanitizer), and acidic materials. For silver rings, avoid contact with sulfur containing materials, as they speed up the tarnishing process.
